What this means for your application

You were invited and already applied

Your application continues to be assessed under the eligibility requirements in effect when you submitted. You do not need to reapply. Processing continues at the OINP’s standard stages.

You had an EOI but were never invited

Ontario withdrew it automatically and sent notice. Nothing carries over to OWP. If you and a qualifying employer meet OWP requirements, you start fresh: the employer submits a job offer in the Employer Portal, and you register a new EOI within 30 days.

You never registered and are starting now

Go straight to the OWP stream guide.

Draw history snapshot (why “draws” look different now)

Under the former system, Ontario issued invitations through targeted and general EOI draws — for example, 2025 totals included 4,860 Foreign Worker, 6,605 International Student and 1,063 In-Demand Skills invitations, with Masters/PhD draws resuming March–April 2026 before closure. Under OWP, selection continues through the new EOI pool, but the stream structure, scoring and employer requirements differ. Historical tables: Ontario invitations page.

Where to check your official status

  • EOI / application status: the OINP e-Filing portal (ontario.ca) — Ontario also emails notices to registrants, employers and representatives.
  • After nomination: IRCC application status via your IRCC account.
  • If your situation involves a refusal, see OINP refusal — options after a refusal.

Frequently asked questions

When will OINP draws resume?

New-selection activity resumed under the OWP stream after the EOI system reopened on August 4, 2026. There are no “legacy stream” draws to resume — former streams are closed permanently.

What is my EOI status after the redesign?

If your EOI was registered under a former stream and never led to an invitation, it was withdrawn. Check your email notices and the OINP portal for the official record.

Can I update my OINP application after submission?

Material changes (job duties, wage, hours, employer) must be reported to the OINP immediately. See the OINP application process page for the official position, and our refusal/options page if your application was refused.

Will the Entrepreneur stream come back?

Ontario has signalled further redesign phases, but no replacement entrepreneur criteria, thresholds or dates have been published. Treat anything promising “Entrepreneur stream 2026 intake” as unverified.
